Family Histories

Family histories is an on going series that explores the intersection of the personal experience in the context of a shared history.

We were in the middle of lockdown when my grandfather Max turned 99. Gathering outside the gate of his aged care home with signs, we sung to mark this milestone. It was also a milestone as it was the first gathering of family after weeks in isolation. Celebrating together in the sunshine it was almost like old times.

The footpath acts as a stage as we perform these rituals for our own sake, as much as for my grandfather.
